We also have an online order form through which you can place orders if you are unable to come into our store. In addition to computers & tablets, the VolTech has access to thousands of technology products such as cables, hard drives, flash memory, audio equipment, cameras, cases & backpacks, mice, presentation devices, and software. What types of computers can I order from the Technology Center?

VolTech is the institutional provider for all Apple Computers including iPADs, as well as PC items. VolTech can also procure specialty configurations and brands under $5000 that are not available through OIT/purchasing on a case-by-case basis. Is there a dollar limit on Apple purchases?
No, since VolTech is the institutional provider, there is no limit an amount that can be purchased.

How do I order Apple computers?

If you know what you want, you may submit your order online through our Departmental Order Form below, email us at, fax us at 974-3668, or by coming into the store between 9:00AM-5:30PM weekdays. We will be happy to discuss your purchase via phone but can't accept phone orders due to PCI compliance requirements. To see “stock” Apple models, go to the Computer Hardware page. We have several models that we try to keep in stock for immediate delivery. To custom configure a model please use the Apple Store Proposal. Just configure the systems you want and print a copy of the proposal when finished. If you are ordering a custom configuration, please include a copy of the proposal with your order. Some departments require additional documentation or signatures to order. Please follow the procedure outlined by your department and include those forms with your order.

What if I need help deciding what I need?

Contact VolTech at, or stop by the store and one of our Technology associates will be happy to work with you. If you are configuring a lab or multiple servers, we can refer you to an Apple systems engineer for more complex installations.

What other items should I consider with my computer?

Most departments prefer that you purchase the 3yr AppleCare warranty. Other warranties available are 4yr AppleCare and Safeware covering accidental damage or accidental damage with theft, vandalism, power surges, fire & natural disaster. Contact the store for more details on warranties. Also, consider necessary cables to hook computer to projector, or smartboard, and a case or sleeve to protect the unit.

What if my office is not on the UT Campus?

Just send your information by one of the means above. Please be sure to include a shipping address (no PO boxes- we ship UPS). There is a shipping fee to ship and insure the unit.

Can I get the same Apple computers personally at the same price?

Yes, you can take the configuration you made here and order it personally using cash, check, credit card (MC. VISA, Discover) or payroll deduction (if qualified). There is, however, a limit of one per customer when ordering personally.

How long will it take to get my computer?

If you are ordering a stock model and we have it in inventory, you are welcome to come by, purchase, and take with you. If your order comes in by email or fax and the unit is in stock we will attempt to get it to your campus office on the next workday. Custom models take a minimum of 7-10 days to build and ship. Sometimes there may be delays. We will let you know if your computer system is going to take longer, however, we can only tell you what Apple tells us.

What do I do if I have a problem with my computer?

VolTech is an Apple Authorized Repair Center and can handle all repairs in or out of warranty. We are also Safeware authorized and can handle the Safeware insurance claims as well. To talk to a technician email:, or call 865-974-5700.

Special note: If your computer has a hardware problem within the first week, we can return it to Apple and get you another one. It is important to return the unit with all of the packaging as soon as possible as we have a limited return window and want to get your new one ordered or replaced as soon as possible.
